Privacy Policy

The Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants (CTCPA) respects your privacy. This privacy policy explains your privacy as a member or user of this website.

  • We will never sell your personal information to any unaffiliated third party without your consent.
  • Your name, address, phone number, personal information, and individual responses will only be used as described in this policy.
  • We will maintain high standards of professional conduct in the collection and reporting of the information you provide.

Use of Personal Data Collected through CTCPAs.org

While our site does use cookies (as described below), the only other personal data that CTCPA currently collects through this website is the information you provide to us when you use this website. When you perform transactions on our website, ranging from creating an online member or nonmember account to registering for continuing professional education, you will be asked for information.

Our website is linked to a database that stores your history with the CTCPA. Information stored in this database includes past continuing professional education courses taken with the CTCPA, products purchased from the CTCPA, a history of your dues payments, and past and present firm affiliations. This information may be pulled from the database into the website for your convenience when you are logged into your secure personal online account. No one without the username and password that you created can view this information.

There are two aspects of this website that may exhibit some selected information to CTCPA members and/or the general public. The Member Directory, which is a search engine and no longer a downloadable list, displays your name, firm affiliation, current committee and/or taskforce involvement, and preferred contact information to members in good standing. If you would prefer to not be listed in the Member Directory, you can use the Personal Profile Update page on the website to exclude yourself from the directory. The Find a CPA search engine, which is accessible to both members and the general public, is entirely opt-in. If you would like to be included in that portion of the website, you must fill out a profile with your desired information; if you do not fill out that profile, your firm's information will not be included.

CTCPA may use the information submitted via our website and stored in our database to contact you in the future regarding products, services, and news you may be interested in, based upon your history with the CTCPA. All emails (many of which are subscription-based) will provide an opportunity to opt out of or cancel the subscription.

Anonymous Data Collected through CTCPAs.org

The CTCPA uses technology to collect anonymous information about the use of the website, for market research purposes. This technology tracks how many visitors visit the website, which pages they view, how long they stay, etc. This information allows staff to devote appropriate time to the most popular sections of the website and improve other areas to provide you with the best online experience possible.

This technology is used for statistical analysis only and in no way identifies you personally.

Cookies

The CTCPA website uses cookies to maintain a connection with you as you move through our website; these cookies are utilized in order to remember user inputs. For example, if you are registering for continuing professional education through our website, cookies are necessary in order to keep your selected courses in the “shopping cart” until you complete your purchase. Personalization features also use cookies in order to deliver appropriate content and allow you to skip the log-in process, if you choose the “remember me” login checkbox.

Cookies are small pieces of information sent to your browser and stored on your computer's hard drive – this information will not damage your computer in any way and cannot be used to personally identify a user.

Disclosure of Your Personal Data

CTCPA may share your preferred mailing address with our affiliates, who use this data in accordance with this Privacy Policy. These companies may need information about you in order to perform their functions, and are not authorized to use the information we share with them for any other purpose.

Link to Other Sites

The CTCPA website contains links to other websites that are not operated by the CTCPA. These links are meant to serve as a reference for you only and do not necessarily serve as an endorsement or association with any third-party websites.
