2023 Legislative Session

- The following members of the State Taxation Legislative Subcommittee helped us submit testimony on SB 814, An Act Concerning Liability For Underpaid Income Tax:

- CTCPA Federal Taxation Committee Chair Michael Welch of Pue, Chick, Liebowitz & Blezard, LLC testified against SB 814 virtually at the public hearing.
- Adam Cohen of Adam P. Cohen, CPA, LLC testified on behalf of the CTCPA Not-for-Profit Organizations Committee regarding the audit threshold issue; the group has been working diligently on this issue for quite some time. Our issue was placed in the Attorney General's technical bill, SB 1058, An Act Concerning The Attorney General's Recommendations Regarding Consumer Protection And Financial Reporting By Charitable Organizations.
- Robert Lickwar of UHY Advisors, NE, LLC and Megan Budd of WithumSmith+Brown, P.C. submitted testimony in favor of
HB 5413, An Act Authorizing The Deduction of Certain Business Expenses By Cannabis Establishments.
We asked all of our members to contact their legislators regarding SB 814, and our members responded. More than 430 messages were sent to Connecticut legislators through the CTCPA Action Center!
