Overview

This two-part session, geared toward our members in industry, will cover applicable state tax updates and the cybersecurity information you need to keep your company safe from ransomware, phishing, and more.

Part One: Cybersecurity Awareness: Protect Your Business with Tim Weber, Director of Security Services at ADNET Technologies

It seems like every day brings new cybersecurity threats. No organization is too small to be a target, and no industry is truly safe. Those handling sensitive data, such as financial data and personally identifying information are at a higher risk.

We don't want to scare you - we want to teach you how you can protect yourself and lead the way in educating your organization. In this session, you will:

• Learn the top threats companies face today
• Hear real stories of security incidents
• Learn more about the tools, techniques and services used to get companies back on track after a security event
• Discover how you and your team can help prevent security incidents
• Learn how to take a proactive approach to handling cybersecurity risks

Part Two: State Tax Developments

The presentation will focus primarily on legislation enacted during the 2021 Regular Session and June Special Session affecting state taxes, including legislation that addressed the tax consequences of working remotely and the tax provisions in the legislation that legalized adult-use cannabis in Connecticut.  The presentation will also provide an update on tax litigation in Connecticut courts and will address various administrative and operational issues at the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services.
