Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Initiative

It's been a year since we kicked off our diversity initiative and signed the CEO Act!on for Diversity and Inclusion Pledge, and there's clearly more work to be done.

“As we deal with the health crisis and unrest across our country, I am asking you to stand united against racism, unconscious bias, inequities, and discrimination," said Cynthia Calderon of CohnReznick, who co-chairs our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Initiative with Shanita Booker. "We must all do our part to make our country an equitable place for all.”

As AICPA Chair Tracey Golden shared at the 2020 CTCPA Annual Meeting, "We must do better."

Our initiative works to encourage and promote diversity and inclusion within the profession and at our organizations, and is intended to provide events and programming to help engage members in meaningful discussions about diversity.

Conversations encompass a wide array of topics, including six pillars of diversity identified by co-chairs Shanita Booker and Cynthia Calderon: Personal experiences, learning styles, education, careers, professional experiences, and talents.

Last year we launched our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Initiative with Deloitte’s Business Chemistry program. We joined the world in observance of Pride month and commemorated its history of empowerment and inclusion, highlighting companies' efforts in promoting Pride activities in their offices. We also partnered with Goodwin College to engage in a discussion on unconscious bias.
