Educators Council FOOD Group - October 2018

To help connect and engage accounting educators as they prepare the next generation of accounting professionals, we have launched the Connecticut Accounting Educators FOOD Group. A FOOD (For Our Own Development) group is an informal gathering of individuals discussing ideas, issues, and best practices in a candid, conversational environment.  CCSU Assistant Professor of Accounting Marie Kulesza, CPA is leading the charge on direction and program agenda.

The October 15 kick-off meeting featured a discussion of the proposed alternate “technology pathway” to the CPA designation by CTCPA Executive Director Bonnie Stewart and “Data Analytics in Business and Accounting Curriculum” co-presented by Dr. Richard McCarthy, Professor of Computer Information Systems and Director of MS in Business Analytics Program at Quinnipiac University and Dr. Mary McCarthy, CPA, CFA, CGMA, Professor of Accounting at Central Connecticut State University, co-authors of forthcoming book entitled Finding Value in Data: Using Predictive Analytics to Identify Business Opportunities.

All accounting faculty members at two- and four-year colleges/universities are invited to participate in the Connecticut Accounting Educators FOOD Group. The group will meet three times per year and discussions center on timely and emerging topics to help keep the group apprised of the latest in accounting education in an informal, conversational session.
