MahoneySabol's Kevin Harris Joins Central Connecticut State University’s Institute of Technology and Business Development Advisory Committee

Kevin Harris, a senior accountant with MahoneySabol in Glastonbury, Middletown, and Essex, has joined Central Connecticut State University’s (CCSU) Institute of Technology & Business Development Advisory Committee.

“As a proud alumnus of CCSU, I am excited and honored to join the Institute of Technology & Business Development Advisory Committee,” said Mr. Harris. “I am passionate about giving back to the university that gave me the tools to succeed in my career and hope to generate more awareness for CCSU’s comprehensive programs that prepare students for the real world.”

CCSU's Institute of Technology & Business Development (ITBD) helps support growing Connecticut businesses and organizations. Combining the expertise of a professional staff, academic experts, private sector advisors, and government resources, ITBD turns ideas into ventures, aids the growth of existing businesses, and helps Connecticut's business community succeed in today's challenging domestic and international market.

“We are proud of Kevin’s involvement in CCSU’s Institute of Technology & Business Development and eager to see the value he brings to the advisory committee,” said, Jay Rasmus, CPA, Partner at MahoneySabol and fellow CCSU alumnus. “Kevin plays an integral role on our tax team and we are confident that his commitment to CCSU’s ITBD will be beneficial to both parties as he brings his accounting expertise to their team while the committee helps him engage in networking opportunities.”

Mr. Harris, of Berlin, Conn., graduated from CCSU in 2011 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and went on to complete a Master of Science in Accounting at University of Hartford in 2012. Mr. Harris has been employed by MahoneySabol in the Glastonbury office since 2015 where his primary responsibilities include tax consulting, preparing and reviewing complex, closely held business returns in the manufacturing, brewing, financial and construction industries, preparing and reviewing high net-worth individual returns, preparing and reviewing 501(c)(3) informational returns, coordinating intern hiring, and training new staff.

As a member of the Advisory Committee, Mr. Harris’ main goal is to continue to position CCSU positively in the marketplace. His responsibilities will include: reviewing guidelines and procedures related to ITBD operations, providing guidance to ITBD staff on market trends and business conditions, recommending policy, fee and budget changes to the ITBD Managing Director, assisting the ITBD in developing and achieving its annual goals, leveraging ITBD prominence in its markets, serving as a Champion for the ITBD in the business community, and providing guidance and recommendations for potential scholarship winners for the CCSU ITBD annual golf tournament.
