Educator Appreciation Night 2015

On June 3, the CTCPA celebrated Connecticut’s outstanding accounting educators with the third annual Educator Appreciation Night at Cascade in Hamden with John Turgeon, CPA of CohnReznick LLP serving as master of ceremonies. Connecticut accounting professors representing Connecticut’s two- and four-year colleges and universities gathered for a fun evening of cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, dessert, and mingling.

The evening’s highlight was the presentation of the Educator of Excellence awards, known as "The Eddys," which recognize Connecticut accounting professors who have had a positive influence on the lives and careers of their students by excelling in teaching and/or mentoring, inspiring students to reach beyond the ordinary, and making a difference by going the extra mile for their students.

Students nominate outstanding professors, and winners are selected by a panel representing a cross-section of the CTCPA membership and the Connecticut business community via blind review.

Congratulations to the winners and all of our attending accounting educators – thank you for all you do!

And the 2015 Eddys went to:

Noelle Taddei, CPA, Post University (Four-Year College/University Professor)

Excerpts from the nomination for Professor Taddei:
"She goes above and beyond for her students … I feel welcome to ask questions and feel confident with her answers … She is the most encouraging educator I have ever encountered … She takes pride in her students’ successes, which we owe to her.”

Scott Colvin, CPA, Naugatuck Valley Community College (Two-Year College/University Professor)

Excerpts from the nomination for Professor Colvin:
“He has not only provided me with technical accounting skill, but has also shared his own career experiences … More than once when I felt uncertain about my future, he inspired me with his experiences in order to show me that success is neither quick nor easy.”

Leanne Adams, CPA, University of Connecticut (Adjunct Professor)

Excerpts from the nomination for Professor Adams:
“She consistently goes above and beyond expectations to help me … She is a wonderful person to talk to and has a very inviting and welcoming personality ... She has given me help whenever I needed it.”
