Job Description

The Manager, External Reporting & Technical Accounting is responsible for assisting in the evaluation and implementation of new accounting standards and ensuring the application of U.S. GAAP to complex transactions. This position will also be responsible for serving as a subject matter expert for accounting questions for the Corporate Financial Reporting department, performing technical accounting research, drafting accounting policies and writing accounting position memoranda.

The successful person will be excited about the diversity of work and should also be willing to roll-up their sleeves and dive into the details to solve problems. Know what great looks like and lead the team to meeting SEC reporting standards.

This role will have substantial interaction with individuals internal and external to the organization, including senior management and independent auditors. This role will report to the Senior Director, External Reporting & Technical Accounting and will have substantial interaction with other departments in the organization, including Human Resources, Legal and Financial Planning & Analysis.

This role can be based out of our Stamford, CT HQ or our Coppell, TX facility with a hybrid work schedule (relocation assistance available if outside of these locations).

Requirements:

  • Partner with business unit leaders on review of customer contracts, and perform initial conclusions of appropriate revenue recognition treatment
  • Support the adoption of new accounting standards
  • Review the ongoing lease activities and prepare lease disclosures
  • Research and provide guidance on the proper accounting and disclosure treatment related to complex or unusual transactions to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP
  • Monitor changes in the accounting environment, and proactively research and assess the impact of new accounting guidance on the Company’s financial statements
  • Developing rapport with the Company’s business and finance community ensuring open lines of communication are maintained
  • Preparation and review of footnotes and disclosures in the financial statements
  • Document accounting conclusions in formal memos and work with external auditors to support accounting positions and technical accounting issues
  • Participate in writing and training on global accounting policies and procedures

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • CPA
  • 7+ years’ experience in Accounting/Finance with technical accounting research responsibilities including 4+ years public accounting (Big 4)
  • Comprehensive understanding of U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations
  • Strong research skills with the ability to apply relevant guidance and draft accounting memos to support conclusions, including related to complex and highly judgmental topics
  • Strong analytical, verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Experience of working with people from different countries/cultures is a plus
