Advancing the State of Diversity and Inclusion

Recent events in our nation have brought into clearer focus the critical need for organizations to create a diverse and inclusive culture where everyone can thrive. Enhancing awareness, identifying and addressing unconscious biases, and creating an environment where all feel comfortable bringing their authentic selves to the workplace are practices that must be part of every organization's workforce development strategy.   

Join us on this important journey by participating in the Ohio Society of CPAs Crossing Bridges Series. OSCPA created this series to help organizations advance their understanding and implementation of diversity and inclusion (D + I) initiatives. Long considered the right thing to do, D + I training has not always been viewed as essential. That mindset must change and the time to do so is now.

The Connecticut Society of CPAs has partnered with the Ohio Society of CPAs to bring you a variety of D + I thought leaders on ways your organization can engage in these important conversations and take your D + I efforts to the next level. Together, we will learn about the complexities and value involved in bringing awareness and sensitivity training to employees with a goal of building a more diverse and welcoming workplace.


 

Objectives

As organizations become more diverse, they inevitably face the challenges that come with different perspectives. Successful organizations recognize the value of creating a workplace culture that is welcoming and where its employees feel safe to be who they are. Join us for this important and engaging panel discussion facilitated by Dr. Cynthia Turner, PhD, Assistant Dean and Chief Diversity Officer at The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business. We'll hear stories of belonging as Dr. Turner guides us through strategies for creating equity and inclusion in the workplace.

Major Topics

Dr. Turner will lead the panelist in a discussion relating to their career experience of feeling a sense of belonging and conversely time when they felt that they were not in a culture that valued diversity and inclusion. Dr. Turner will also share proven best practices for creating an inclusive and belonging environment at all levels of and organization and or company.
