Congressman Joe Courtney visited the
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)
VernonsiteinlateFebruarywherefivevol-
unteers working with Community Account-
ing Aid and Services (CAAS) assisted 16
taxpayers in preparing their tax returns.
CAAS oversees and supports tax sites in
Willimantic, Stafford, Putnam, Rockville,
Windsor Locks, and West Hartford. Volun-
teers provide free quality tax preparation
to income-eligible families, persons with
disabilities, the elderly, and limited English-
speaking taxpayers.
Dworken, Hillman, LaMorte and Sterczala (DHL&S) in
Shelton recently selected Make-A-Wish Connecticut, an
organization dedicated to granting the wishes of children
with life threatening medical conditions, as its 2014 Jeans
for Charity recipient.
The DHL&S Jeans for Charity program, which has raised
more than $37,900 for local charities since it was estab-
lished in 2004, encourages employees to donate weekly
toafundthatismatchedbythefirm,inexchangeforal-
lowing participants to wear jeans on Fridays.
