David J. Kasowitz,
a member since June 7, 1973,
passed away July 13, 2014.
Stuart E. Magdefrau,
a member since May 15, 1980,
passed away April 12, 2015.
Longtime CTCPA member Stuart E. Mag-
defrau, a former member of the Board of
Governors and past chair of numerous
committees including Professional Eth-
ics, Management of an Account Prac-
tice, Public Relations, and Audit, passed
away on April 12, 2015. He was 60.
He received a Bachelor of Science de-
gree from the University of Connecticut
in 1976. In 1986, he founded Magdefrau
defrau, Renner & Ciaffaglione LLC. Prior
to 1986, he was a partner in the Hartford
He was a member of the American In-
stitute of Certified Public Accountants
and served on its Technical Review Task
Force; a member of the Estate and Busi-
ness Planning Council of Hartford, Inc.; a
director of Rockville Bank; a corporator
of Eastern Connecticut Health Network;
and treasurer of Strong Family Farm, Inc.
He served as a youth soccer coach and a
little league coach for the Ellington Recre-
ation Department and as treasurer of the
Vernon Historical Society and the Vernon
Dove Corporation.
