As CTCPA membership events kick into high gear each spring following the end of busy season, Assistant Editor Caitlin Bailey O’Neill and I fire up the Nikon to snap photos of hundreds of members engaged in everything from CPE courses to cooking classes. Sometimes I feel like maybe we should change my job title from Communications Manager to “that girl with the camera.” This year, fresh off of a three-day digital photography bootcamp, Caitlin and I were excited to test out some new skills and specialized equipment, and thanks to the wide variety of events planned by our volunteer leaders and CTCPA staff, we had plenty of photo ops! This issue is packed full of members striking poses at recent events: • The Essential Event: Adding Up to a Richer Future (page 6) • The brand-new Educators of Excellence: “The Eddys” (page 8) • Recognition of accounting’s next generation with Educational Trust Fund scholarships (page 10) and our CPA certificate ceremony (page 13) • A celebration of diversity at the NABA Night of Stars (page 12) • It’s Just LIFE ladies’ nights (page 14) • New and Young Professionals programs (page 20) See Photos Faster The rise in social networking means we’re able to share these shots of members doing great things faster than ever. Follow us as we tweet (www.twitter.com/ConnecticutCPAs), “Like” us on Facebook (www.facebook. com/ConnecticutCPAs) to see our photo albums in your newsfeed, or check out the photo gallery on our website (www.ctcpas.org/photos). Want to Be in Pictures? Don’t worry – you haven’t missed out! There are always member events on the horizon. Whether you’d like to relax and unwind at a social event, lace up your sneakers for a friendly day of athletic competition, or meet up with fellow members for technical discussion and continuing education, we have a place for you! Check out this issue or go to www.ctcpas.org/calendar to see what’s coming up, or go to www.ctcpas.org/NYP to see programs specifically geared toward new and young professionals.
