Fall Adult
Education Courses
The fall 2012 semester of adult edu-
cationprogramsonbusinessstart-up
basics will begin during September
and run into November. Most pro-
grams involve four two-hour sessions
whichareusuallypresentedfrom6:30
to8:30p.m.onenightperweek.The
coursesareprovidedthroughtheadult
education programs in various com-
munities.CAAS'bookStarting a Small
Business in Connecticut
will be used
asthecoretext.APowerPointpresen-
tation is available as a framework for
eachofthesessions.Ifyouwouldlike
toinstructoneofourexistingcourses
orestablishanewcourse,pleasecon-
tactCAAS.
CEDF Courses
The fall 2012 semester of the Com-
munity Economic Development Fund
(CEDF) Basic Business Financials
courses will be run in four locations
usingCAASinstructors.Thecourses
normally run for four sessions from
6:30to9:00p.m.Thecoursegivesat-
tendeesanunderstandingoffinancial
statementsandbusinesstaxes.Itisa
requiredprerequisitefora"hands-on"
QuickBooks course taught by CEDF
instructors.Ifyouwouldliketolearn
moreaboutthisprogram,pleasecon-
tactCAAS.

Reminder
CAAS clients are referred to our vol-
unteersafteranapplicationprocessto
ensurethatthescopeoftherequested
assistanceandthecriteriaforservice
meetCAAS'missionandrequirements.
Theserviceisnormallyspecific.When
it is completed, that service case will
beclosed.
Ifadditionalserviceisneeded,please
have the client contact CAAS so that
the new request can be processed
as the original one was. Volunteers
workingonapprovedCAAScasesare
covered by our directors and officers
liabilityinsurance.Occasionallyclients
willcontactthevolunteerdirectly.This
bypassesourprocessandcausesin-
formationtobelost.Volunteerservice
istheessenceofCAAS.Pleasehelpus
