Central Connecticut State University student Catherine Lafreniere of Bristol Receives Scholarship from CPA Society Educational Trust Fund

For Release: January 2017

The Educational Trust Fund of the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants (CTCPA) recently presented Central Connecticut State University student Catherine Lafreniere of Bristol with the 2017 Frank Frago Community Service Award Scholarship at the organization’s Recognition Reception held at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville.

The CTCPA's Educational Trust Fund helps tomorrow's CPAs today by providing scholarships and grants to accounting students at Connecticut high schools, colleges, and universities.

The annual award is presented in honor of the late Frank C. Frago, CPA, who served as both CTCPA president and chair of the CTCPA Educational Trust Fund. The award is intended to encourage and recognize undergraduate accounting majors who have shown leadership through continued commitment to community service in recognition of Mr. Frago’s history of supporting not only his profession but his community.

The Connecticut Society of CPAs is celebrating more than 100 years of service to membership and community alike. Formed by nine CPAs in 1908 at New Haven’s Union League Club, today CTCPA has a membership of almost 6,000 individuals in public practice, business and industry, government, and education. Its function is to advocate on behalf of the accounting profession, foster a professional community among CPAs, and provide continuing education opportunities as well as a comprehensive peer review program and a variety of membership services for CPAs in Connecticut.
